You use schluter trim on the edge and it has to installed before tiling so get a good tiler .

You start with 1K of Sugutsune door hardware. Then the most qualified and expensive tile contractor within 200 miles.

No long term risk but you need the best tile guy not the guy who’s a ‘handyman’.

Underneath there is probably an EZJamb, mud in trimless jamb or a Fry Reglet type jamb. I did these in my house. It is a painstaking and pricey option.

More money and more planning.

Cost in the low 4 figure range per door. Larger rough openings to accommodate thicker jambs for the drilled in hinges. Drywall trim labor & materials for these items are extraordinary and sometimes require a finish carpenter to install instead of a drywaller.

Actually EZ Jamb does make these for a standard 1-3/8" door and 2x4 construction with RocYork or Soss hinges, 3-4 per door. But the door has to be machined carefully with a jig to take the hinges.

I agree with choosing a tile installer with extreme attention to detail.

It looks like a pocket door to me. With a recessed jamb on the handle side. Still need very good tile work. And good drywall work if thats on the other side.
