Beth and Old Dirt, pretty Unforgettable! Mine is diminishing year to year, probably tree root competition and drought.
I forgot about Undulata. Yes, my mother did give it to me. It was not my first hosta, but she gave it to me after I had decided that I could not grow hostas. My first venture into hosta gardening introduced me to the vole problem in my garden. I handled the vole problem the first time by swearing and then digging up all my hostas. I then left the plants in pots for years (some are still there). Somehow, all of the potted hostas survived. About 4-5 years ago, I decided to try again with planting hostas, but in wire baskets in the ground.

Paula, your car photo above made me laugh and reminded me of two photos I took near my home……I couldnt believe what I was seeing😆

Its around 30 degrees outside and this car has no back window….and oh, those stickers…..covering the rust……..and I am in Illinois, Florida plates.

This little gem resides somewhere near me. I spotted this car in a grocery store parking lot……those tiny animals are glued to the hood. She is a cat fan….no dogs in sight…..and yes it is a she that owns this beauty, I’ve seen her twice😆.

Shadow beautiful view. Yes it is a good day to stay in and snuggle. It is warmer today but I have had a few of those brrr days. Hopefully the warmth will reach you soon.

I have a bunch of Undulata Albomarginatas..when I moved in they were scattered all around the yard..just not my planting style..I moved lots of them to the side of my garage..

and another group in my "wilderness garden"..

there's still a few here and there that I'll move someday..

the house also had a bunch of Undulata Erromena..they're just plain green..I like these but some were too big..crowding the path or other plants so I moved them too..I couldn't find a nice pic of a fully leafed out Erromena..

there's one in the center of this picture behind the biggest log..my husband took down this dead tree and didn't hit one plant!..

utog..I like anything that remotely resembles a Krossa Regal..so of course I like Unruly Child!!..😂

Sherry, I've never seen cars like that! I love the one with animals on it! My husband would never let me do that to one of our cars!

Peren.all, nice undulata univittata! My in-laws had them at their cottage and they looked incredible even though they weren't watered regularly. I got some from them. But due to lack of space in my garden, I had to make the hard decision to reduce and decided that, since Undulata Univittata didn't grow that well for me, I would let it grow in someone else's garden. Kind of regretted it afterwards. BUT, there were a couple of very small pieces of it at my inlaw's burial plot. The hosta have now come back to me!

Nicholsworth, I like your idea of planting a grouping of undulata albomarginata. I think it looks much nicer that way too!

utog, good looking Unruly Child. And I'm always amazed how well your hostas do in pots, and you said some have been in them for years. I wish I had better luck over wintering hostas in pots.

I love both of plants you showed today. There is no accounting for taste, I know. The streaker is beautiful to me, with the lines on the leaves flowing beautifully with the length of the leaves and rippled margin. And you know how I feel about streakers, the first to call one ugly. And of course, the yellow floppy one is an instant favorite. I have decided to call it "Banana Split", but I guess it is listed on the U post, so it is really "Unflavored Banana Split"? If you are tossing them out, toss them my way. ;)

Well, that last one should be called Cthulhu from Dr. Who, obviously.

That last one reminds me of a tough dandelion after I hit it with roundup, hence, "Dandelion Roundup" although I love Cthulhu too. I think that reference is a bit older than Dr. Who.

Also, that Streaker is in need of a fertility clinic. Have you tried it with known tetraploids? I sometimes wonder if some of these so-called sterile Hosta might actually be fertile with tets.

I got rid of all of my Undulatas leaving me with only one U - Urchin

It was doing better a couple of years in a pot, so hopefully next year it will leap in the ground. Here's one with its amazing flowers.

The streaker wont even self pollinate. i will expirement with it steve. i have a few like that.

last summer bullet proof would only take triploid pollen.
