Don’t want my white oak cabinets to turn orange

Hello I am remodeling and putting in some white oak cabinets and I am very worried about them turning orange especially over time. I came across this page and wondered do you treat oak cabinets the same as oak flooring to prevent this? And what products should I be telling my contactor to be using? Thank you

The cabinets are coming to you and being installed unfinished? Why?

If you are doing the finishing yourself, then use water based finishes. Oil based finishes are what turns them orange. Same for floors.

TFB. That’s what oak wood does over time. Even if you bleach it now. Even if you whitewash it now. It ambers over time.

No, they should be done beforehand. I just want some in put with many ideas and heads put together to give me the most information I can get. The more I have the better informed I am and can make those choices. Then pass that on to my contractor/ cabinet guy.

What type of finishing process does the cabinet maker use then? I would tell them what you want the finish to look like and how you expect it to perform. If you pick the finish, you own the result, if turns to crap in a year its on you as you told him what to use.......................................
