Spring is on the way...it is suppose to be 70 here tomorrow! I am really bad about fertilizing, but I am planning on starting this month after talking with @popmama (Colorado, USDA z5).

What do you use for your hoyas?

I do fertilize my outdoor plants. Here is an example of my coleus who got fertilized last summer. I also told it to grow dang it 😂

That is a stunning coleus! Did you keep some of it indoors? It's a really nice one.

It's snowing hard here today. Spring is definitely in the far off future here.

Last year was definitely the year of the coleus! I became quite obsessed with them. In fact, I was so obsessed I ordered one hard-to-find variety online!

Quite a few of mine have started to grow, and I've started giving them some osmocote. I'm really bad about feeding regularly with a water soluble plant food hence the osmocote.

I've been using the liquid dynagrow. I mix it 1/4 teaspoon to a gallon of water. It's extremely dilute so I don't worry about burning the roots. It seems to work well.

I do sometimes use dynagro, but I often just don't want to take the time to mix it so I use osmocote. Lazy or in a rush to get plants watered; it's either one or the other (or both), lol.

Does the osmocote contain all the micro nutrients? This was the reason I went with the dynagro. I never thought to use dynagro, and I have a huge bag of it too! I also occasionally use epiphite delight because I have a lot of airplanes and a few orchids because it doesn't contain urea.

I have a medical syringe that a pharmacist gave me, which is calibrated in ml on one side and teaspoons on the other 😲. I just suck up a 1/2 teaspoon of fertilizer and squirt it into my sprayer, which holds 2 gallons. If I feel generous, I may even give them dessert.

I guess as long as we keep feeding, regardless of the fertilizer, they'll be happy.

I can't wait for the warmer weather so I can get them back outside again.

I gave all my plants a sprinkling of nutricote this month. I won't give them any other fert for a couple of months. But I may do some foliar feeding and maybe some other nutrients. We'll see!

Did I say warmer when I started this thread? Like the elf in polar express said "am I Mashugana?"! Upon getting up, it's in the 20s this morning with about 1.5" of snow on the ground and still snowing! So much for warmer! 🤣

It was 65 degrees this morning and the foot snow we had all melted in one night. I was washing my Hoya off after a nice warm rain last night and with my t-shirt on at 7.a.m the thunderstorm rolled in and plummeted the temps from the 60's to the 30's within an hour. lol

I need to start feeding mine again soon. I usually use tomato food, but orchid food works, too.

Sorry for my absence, but life's been pretty busy and crazy. Roommates and I are planning big things for the garden, and hopefully we'll be building a greenhouse out of old windows and doors this year. I plan on keeping a couple Hoyas in there :).

Welcome back. Glad to hear you're doing ok. Building a GH as in having a plot of land or a small house you guys bought or rented? That's great. Guess the move is working out well for you?

We all share a house together with a big backyard (actually, it's going on the south side of the house, where it's not very big, but big enough to put a greenhouse there (I'm thinking a 6x8 or 8x8). The move is working out slowly but surely. Back to work tomorrow (working three days a week as a dishwasher at a local retirement community-9 to 10 hour days however, but I like it; I also take residents their lunch and dinner orders who want to eat in their apartments).
