BPath - I’m letting my tired mind rest. I chose the exact colors as shown in the example. The backing will be a grey and white stripe flannel. I’m even using thier straight line quilting suggestion.

Annie, I bought enough fabrics for two of these quilts. I wonder if I should try selling one, LOL!

The first quilt is for niece #2. The second one is for niece #4.

The numbers are birth order only; each of my nieces and nephews are #1 in my heart!!!

Petalique - I am not very comfortable with any of the types of triangles, but I’m cutting everthing with wiggle room so I can square them to size.

I’m also not into using the color ”grey” anywhere, but my nieces both loved the pattern and the colors - so it’s what they’re getting.

BTW, I’m so orry to hear about your flloded lower level. Ugh. I hope you get it dried out and freshened soon. Water damage is hell.

Petalique - Yes! All the fabrics are Kona solids. The colors are so vibrant. I am using the solid grey as the pattern shows. It will be a lesson in tolerance for me to sew it! :)

The (clean) water damage was actually on the main level, in the mudroom and sewing room. Water did leak down to the basement but the only real danage was the drop ceiling in the main room.

It could have been far worse. The mudroom sink cabinet disintegrated; but the sink is fine! A 7’ piece of base board has to be replaced, and the sewing room‘s Pergo floor was a total loss.

We had a clean up company come out with commercial dehumidifiers and fans. They got everything very dry.

I am not a gray loving person and do appreciate the talent and skill required to make a quilt (some of my closest friends are mad quilters!) but I have to say that I LOVE that quilt. Some quilts are just too busy, loud, kind of a cacophony of colors and layout to my eye. Thist one is quiet but not dull and you can still see the piecing to know how much work is involved. You are wonderful to indulge your loved ones and make something that they want and will appreciate. I think it is beautiful!

So sorry you had water damage. Nasty stuff. Just something to think about...instead of pergo, I used a cushioned sheet vinyl in my craft room. I really like it for its cleanability, soft under foot, and no clattering like pergo. Today's are heavy and durable, not like the sheet vinyl of yore.

Annie Deighnaugh! Your sewing room is beautiful. The room I’m using now is a similar clear yellow.

I was consodering sheet vinyl to replace the Pergo. What brand and color name do you have down on your floor? Does it have an underlayment?

Sorry, the room is actually a neutral beige..an artifact of the photography.

The flooring is Flexitec if I recall correctly. It's a heavily cushioned and very flexible vinyl and needs no underlayment. My craft room is in the lower level so it's on concrete. You'd have to check with an installer about other surfaces. I don't recall the color, but it's been over 10 years now so I doubt the color names and offerings would be the same.

I found a replacement magazine! I did download the PDF pattern but had an interesting time getting it copied correctly and in color. DH hasnt leaned the nuances of quilt making yet. LOL 😆

I really wanted the original magazine, so Google to the rescue. Now it‘s in my hot little hands.

I still have to find my rotary cutter in the basement. I’ll probably find the original magazine once I can get down there to really search.

Lesson learned? Don’t have a partial house flood at the same time you start planning a special quilt.
