Next to follow: Worst of

Last year was one of the worst weather years for gardening for me.

seversl months we barely had any rain. we made it into the extreme drought category.

only the ones in pots got enough water. hand watered every day.

i usually grow a pretty decent vegetable garden. i abandoned it last year. soaker hoses couldn’t keep up with the heat and dryness.

so it was pretty good test to see which ones came thru ok.

no picture but sagae is the winner. it seamed unphased and even set plenty of seed.

of the seedlings in pots this one is a favorite. its got a long way to go before maturity. it will probably end up being a large hosta. the yellow streaker settled into a pretty margin.

it has jade cascade in its background.

Sea Dream is my favorite every season. Years Ago I moved it to dappled sunlight and it went crazy…….trouble free.

I too, will not be continuing further. I was not prepared as in the past with my pictures. I surprised myself that I had taken so many in that one time.

I didn't know so many of us were having drought problems. Our snow pack is not looking good again this year.

The King is the best one I haven't posted yet. I just love the upright vase shape, the large leaves with deep veins and rippled edges. Along with the myriad of colors along the margins and the way the colors change throughout the season ending up with one of my favorite colors I call green cream. I just wish it was a better grower, but that could be due to tree roots. On July 9th:

I've touted Wave Runner often enough, let's see if I can find another pic worth posting. This is my smaller one but it shows some of the color variation on the leaf edges if you look closely.

Sorry, I got interrupted. I have one more that just grows so well and glows in the garden. I posted Gilt by Association previously, but I took so many pics of it I'm sure I can find another.

Stir It Up has such good form, red petioles and outgrown the nearby Hosta even though it was planted later.

steve..I don't remember ever seeing Stir It Up (I'm probably wrong)..I love it!!! 💕..

The best of my host was also an area that was one of my favorites in May, then then the drought and hear hit and I have never been so discusted at the looks of my gardens. Most everything fried to a crisp from the heat and being in the country our water wells were very low to the point of worry for the house let alone my plants Here as always seems to be my favorite section of gardens because it is the first thing I see going outdoors and the last after going into the house

For me, I would say my best was Liberty. It is pretty big now. It seems to come up kind of early in the spring. That means I'm usually trying to find something to cover it up when the frost comes. And since it is in my front yard, I get embarrassed about using my old sheets and things to do my frost protection!

Stained Glass was good too.
