Oh, Caroline, I am so glad you found them. What method will yuou use to cut the HSTs? Is the long side of the triangle on the bias? Careful of it stretching.

Petalique - Do you have any easier ways to sew the half-square triangles together?

The pattern calls for doing the triangles two ways. One is ”Two at a Time,” and the other makes “Eight at a Time.” I’ve never used either method.

They show two colors of fabric set face to face. Draw lines, sew 1/4” on each side of the lines, cut on the lines, and press open or toward the darker color.

I’ll try some practice pieces first.

I can relate to that story. I was just looking for my 3 yard quilt pattern book. I have no idea where I put it. I thought it was in the bin where the fabric was stored, but NOT. Back in my younger days, I knew where I put everything. Not anymore!!

Had this happen last weekend when i was looking for something I know I had. Probably went through every drawer and cabinet at least twice before giving up. Tried to buy more yesterday and of course couldn't find any. Then it dawned on me that I was likely looking for the wrong size package. Yep, found ’em, in the small blister pack, not the larger resealable pack I had thought.

I am no expert. There are various techniques and tools. Some templates and techniques let you easily cut out many at once. Some help you avoid having a long side on the (unstable, stretch prone) bias. Your quilt appears to have varios sizes for the HSTs.

Seach or look on youtube for techniques. There are some (many) quilt specific forums. My current device doesnt have the bookmarks, but search for techniques and you will find many.

Try quilting board.

Many bloggers give over areas to tutorials. So many good quilters online. Red Hen something is one I like.

Some sewing forums have sub-forums. I have not yet integrated my devices and am dealing w tendinitis, so cannot be of much help. I like that quilt and the colors. If I come across anything, I will sned it along. YouTube has lots of vids and tips.

I usually use Bonnie Hunter's method. Cut strips the size of the squares, cut triangles, sew triangles, cut dog ears off one side.......shouldn't even have to trim. Done.

I’ve tried the 8-at-a-time method but it seems like more trouble than it’s worth. i always use the 2 at a time method - it’s fast, accurate, and prevents stretching on the bias edge.

1. Cut two squares of your 2 fabrics. Cut the squares 7/8th inch bigger than your finished square will be . for a 3” finished HST, cut both squares 3 7/8”
2. Place right sides together and draw a guideline from corner to corner on the diagonal.
3. Sew a ¼” seam on both sides from the guideline.
4. Cut along the guideline, press the seam and trim the dog ears.
