Late Modern - eclectic interior

This architect has built a fair number of houses in the neighborhood. I don't love the location of this one. I looked at one of the small houses on the street 20+ years ago.

If you look at all the photos, when you hit the 50s you may spy this house, which is listed periodically and never sells.

pal....why do you think it never sells?

    Oh, I so miss Philly.

I like this, but trust what you say about the location.

I want them to leave me this desk and ship sculpture. :)

The Deconstructionist one? $6M, 2 BR, location.

pal...will the one your showing us for $2,295,000 sell? That's normal pricing for this location?

Yes the $2.3 one will sell. There is no "normal" pricing for the location. I live in the neighborhood and there are condos that sell for $99K, houses that sell for $350K, condos that sell for $15M. It's all over the place. The $6M has subsidized housing immediately next to it. It's not like the suburban model where everything has to be priced within a very tight range to be acceptable.

There is nothing "wrong" with the location it's just a little busy and commercial for my liking right around that particular spot. Both these houses were built where they were because of the availability of contiguous empty lots at the time. But if I had $6M to spend on a house it would not be that one in that location.

I was just going through my iPad albums, looking for a picture of my living room, and did a double take. I also saved that image I posted above on Feb 2! On this thread, I saved it from the listing Pal linked.

I had saved it twice and didn’t know it…. Feb 2 and again yesterday.

    Screenshot with date:

I don’t remember saving it before… I must have seen it on Instagram (I follow a couple of Philly based accounts). Wow, that desk and ship really got in my mind! 😄

Well, you know what you like :-)

There were a couple of generations, probably my parents and the early baby boomer generations who would decorate contemporary interiors with a good mix of antiques and antique houses with a good mix of contemporary furniture.

Pal, what you described is my absolute favorite style!

I love this house! would probably want to change the kitchen counter (I hate that curve) and some of the tiling in other rooms, but otherwise it's beautiful.

I miss living in a dense urban neighborhood and want to go back to that one type of living one day. as long as the area isn't sketchy, I'd probably take that house in a heartbeat.

It depends upon what you mean by sketchy...this is Philadelphia.

    I'll take it 😃

The 60's called, they want their color scheme back! ;)

Actually, this is one of the coolest interiors I have seen you post in a long while Pal (although most are pretty darn cool!) I really love the use of MCM "antiques" and the green, brown and orange color scheme is done well, rather than hideously. Loved the bedrooms too, they are different enough from each other but not so over the top that they seem incongruous. I especially love the architecture and how the decorating melds with it!! It's eclectic but reads "interesting" rather than clutter. I think that may be the key to an eclectic style, use just enough stuff so that the eye can appreciate the diversity but not so much as to overwhelm. Not easy to do when you love pretty things . . . A lot of memories in that house of some of the tasteful notes of my youth.

As a side, not only do I love this purple bedroom for the way the color brings out the beauty of the wood, but we also have a lamp that is a dead ringer for the one on the dresser, albeit with a different shade. It is one of the things that belonged to my late mother. Dad has it for now. I never much liked it but now I may appreciate it more when I see its potential as a statement piece . . .

In my fantasy, I don't mind the POs taking all their furnishings with them, so I can start from scratch.

Well maybe not the big cabinet in the office...
