Aphids and mites can be controlled and in many cases eradicated by spritzing at 4-day intervals with a 2:1 mixture of water (2 parts) and 70% rubbing alcohol (1 part).

Set the spritzer to fine mist and mist the entire plant, making sure to wet the underside of the leaves and all nooks/crannies - especially the crotch formed by the leaves and the branch/stem they're attached to. Distilled water or water from a dehumidifier, air conditioner, or water that's been routed through a reverse osmosis filtration system is best because it leaves no residue on the plant's surfaces.

In many cases, you'll miss seeing mites unless you use magnification. I have this 5X device w/light, and it works great.

Ok I'll look into that. Thank you! I've been spraying them with very lightly soapy water and hosing down the plant every couple of days. It seems to be helping but not eradicating them completely. I hope the soap won't be bad for the plant. I'm also concerned about overwatering because of the frequent hosing.

hort soap would be fine ...

too many peeps use dish soap ... which can be a detergent... and that would not be good ....
