An off-white would be good. Or go browner. SW shell white.

Which way does the house face and what hind of light do you get? You should also remove the shutters. Why don’t you want to change the accent color? If you are going to paint, paint everything.

I like the off-white idea, I was also thinking of a lighter gray green as well. The house faces east and has lots of late all the time. The roof on the garage is green metal and I’m not up for painting that quite yet. I’ve never thought of removing the shutters that’s a great idea, thank you.

Yeah - gray-green or something greigey beigey that leans greenish. If it was my place - I love dark or midtone woodsy browns in combination with greens - its nature's favorite color scheme after all! Door/trim could be adjusted as well.

The green trim is fine, when it's time to paint then maybe tweak the green to something else, but its fine for now . Yeah that yellow gold has to go - unless youre a Green Bay Packer fan LOL.

I agree, the yellow has to go. A browner tone, would look a lot better, however, the biggest thing that jumps out at me, is that stark white door. It is obviously your front entry, but, it , just doesnt look like a front door. One with even a small window, or some interest would look much more inviting there, but, I know, its not always possible to remove some things, when they are perfectly functional, but, a coat of paint that goes with your new house color, would definitely help. Leave the painting of the deck for last, so you can pick a nice color that will look good with the new house paint. Right now, it appears to be the same color as the house, and it shouldnt be.

Drawing from the inspiration photo from my prior comment…I would remove the shutters and paint the window trim and the door the same dark green. Since you are planning to sand the deck, I’d stain/seal it, but I’d paint the existing stair railings the same color as the house so they blend in. The other issue you have not mentioned is the lack of deck railing/better landscaping…??

Susan, ok I’m going to do exactly that. The deck is only two feet off the ground with a bench/backrail facing the soon-to-be green door. In these pics it’s post winter so the perennials and shrubs are bare. This spring I’ll post after pics with shutters gone and the fresh paint job. Thank You:)

P.S. we are getting rid of the cheesy lattice surrounding the deck. It will be replaced with horizontal, slats.

Sounds like plan…I was wondering what kind of shrubs are along the right side of the front of the house? You may be able to cut them back (1/3 per growing season) to get them back to a size that will be below the windows there. You should research how best to do that. It would be nice to have a full evergreen hedge around the entire deck but that may have to wait until the budget permits. If you redo the deck landscaping n the future, make sure appropriate plants are used…a variety that has a mature height of 4’ so it is not a lot of maintenance.

The yard got professionally trimmed after these photos were taken. I’ll figure out the species this spring. There’s also Montana maple, juniper shrubs, bee balm, peonies, iris, cosmos, dianthus, hydrangea, fern, hostas and more surrounding the house. The previous owner had a green thumb.

MUCH better. Is that the same green trim then? If so - your before and after is a really good example of how color is so much about context, and how it relates to other colors around it.
