My house has a garage and a carport, and I'd like to make improvements as below.

- Garage (12'x21'): Widen the current 7-foot opening to 8-foot. Garage is a bit low in height, so dig up the concrete to add 1 foot in height.

- Carport (16'x19'): Enclose the carport with new walls and lay the concrete foundation for the floor.

I've talked to 2 general contractors, who both quoted ~70k for each of the project. This is in the Seattle area.

Does this quote sound about right? Are there any other cost-efficient ways to get the project done?
