I would wait. You'll probably be able to divide that up into several pots if you want.

Thanks, Tiffany -- I think I'll have purple hearts coming out of my ears -- I have to find homes for them. Two years ago, I put a really beautiful one outside at the end of summer and it was grabbed up right away. So now I have my strategy for next fall.

i dont know this common name plant ... by the name of a hero medal ....

i would propagate some vibrant end growth... and get it ready to go outside in late spring ...

and then go to town on the momma plant ... when i planted it outside in spring ....

and in late summer ... propagate some new cuttings to winter over in the house ...

messing with huge old plants indoors does add a level of complication to this type of project .. mostly because eventually you end up with no room for anything else ...

there is no reason not to keep an old plant going ... but no one says it has to be the exact OLD plant that you keep going.. keep fresh vibrant parts going .....
