Anyone interested in pine trees? I noticed there are quite a few out in the field & my husband will just mow them down so I thought I'd ask first.

Do you know what kind of pine trees they are, Jen?

Sorry, no clue. My plant ID just lists every version of pine as a possible match.

It's a loblolly. I've sort of fallen in love with them. I'd love to have 2-4. How many do ya have? Do you have any big ones on the property? These trees get HUGE. Okay, I am not 100% this is loblolly--but sure looks like what's near me. I'm 90% sure. I'll take my chances-- :).

I planted 700 Loblolly on this place 62 to 65 years ago, but they have been sold for lumber and pulp wood, still off-springs from those trees growing in the wildlife garden, they are easy to plant and grow.

If they're the same thing, we have 3 or 4 at the front of our property, then a row in the back. The little one in the field, I think I counted 5 or 6 fairly easily accessible along the edges that are already mowed, maybe some more further in the overgrown area.

I’m going to be trolling for a couple feed tubs.

Also have an appointment for a couple weeks from now to have the car serviced and get new tires, so I don’t miss this year.

Jen, those are loblolly pine. After this rain, the seedlings will be easy to dig and pot. Once they start putting down a tap root, you have to dig pretty deep in odrer for the tree to survive.

I was always told on the larger trees to mark compass direction so they can be oriented the same when transplanted. I don’t know if that’s really a thing? With seedlings, it doesnt seem to matter.
