Ditra is a Schluter brand and Schluter is the Gold Standard product for any wet room renovation and tile decoupling especially large format ceramics.

I personally would not use or even consider anything else in a bathroom renovation if Schluter made a product for the application.

Understand the limitations w both products. Id make this decision based on many factors, ****mortar selections, substrate buildup etc.

Gold standard is not Orange. The #1 issue is their limitations based on dryset mortars LOL.

Stopped using that junk 10 yrs ago.

Based on what? Marketing? Please list any specification that the competition has not matched or exceeded. Not that there is anything wrong with the product. Calling it the gold standard is simply a lack of product knowledge.

OP - If you can keep cost down by not paying for orange don't hesitate. Never had a Nu Heat failure.

I am interested too, what is so good about Ditra, that Nuheat doesnt have?

Anyone here that feels that they found a better mouse trap - then you go ahead and prove it!

I am trying to figure out the feature, cost, and reliability differences between the brands as well. AFAICT, Pros like NuHeat and say it is very reliable, Schluter is known for wet room applications, and Schluter had great marketing and presence in the big box stores and has a perception of substance due to being German. But despite reading lots of opinions the comparisons I have been able to gather so far are lacking teeth andfacts. I will sa the Schluter controllers are ulgy as F, and my intention is to hide them inside cabinets and closets. I know it's trendy these days to just mount tablets on the wall, but just wait... in a few years the brands will be offering pretty/invisible consoles for extra $$.
