Its a terrible idea. Skip it. A bay is ideal for seats around a round table. Not the worlds most awkward and cramped diner seating in the entirely wrong direction.

I appreciate what you're getting at, but our priority is more worktop space. Space for a stool or two is an added bonus, but we are not planning to make regular use of seating here.

There should be plenty of wood framing between the windows to attach to. Also the shape will help hold in place. I can't think of a specific bracket to use, but there are many brackets sold for kitchen counter overhangs you can find. Just search for "counter overhang bracket".

And if you say ‘work top space’ do you plan that for computers/homework or kitchen prep? Either way, don’t plan on more than 1 stool in any scenario.

Space outside the kitchen, in the breakfast area, NEVER becomes ”work” space. It’s in the entirely wrong spot for that. Youd have to move the sink to there to make that actually be work space.

This is all inside the kitchen, @Verbo. It will run directly into the kitchen counters (that's what the square and triangle part of the taped outline represent).

Well for kitchen workspace - like Verbo said - you’d want that in your actual work zone and you’d want it to be deep enough to actually work at (looks maybe 12” deep?) This looks more like a place to just place things like pots of herbs, etc. you’d have to post the whole plan to get better recommendations but based on what I see I say it doesn’t work visually or functionally.

Just an update - I love how this turned out! The counter brackets worked perfectly, and I painted them to match the walls. Thanks for all the help!
