Going nuts.....on Paint/etc Terms!

The "Snarky" thread got me thinkin'-
(& shuddering.....) And yes, this is a "Venting" thread for Mr. Faron! ðŸĪŠðŸ˜‡ðŸ˜‰
Maybe I've been in "Paint" too long (20 years now!!!!) Things & Terms that drive me INSANE!!!!
* If I hear "Shiplap" ONE. MORE. TIME.
* "Greige". Dear God help me.....
* "Open concept". Someone is gonna get hurt!
* "I need a Warm White.....", & half of what they choose are Cool tones
* People bringing an envelope in, dumping a few molecules on my counter, & stating "I need a match for this"!
* A paintcan comes in with a label from 2008. "I got this 5or 6 years ago, & need some more.....". Ummm....... we've been thru THREE Colorant-generations in that time, etc........3 or 4 Paint-reformulations/Brands, etc.
* Why is your Paint so expensive?! Lady.....you don't know what expensive paint IS!!! FPE is the "Bugatti" of Paint. I wish I had it!!!!
* "Oh good! This paint has the primer in it already Harold"! Faron sneaks in back & sobs for a while.
* "Our deck is 20 years old & Stains just peel off"!
* "I need an "Enamel" Paint.....". Faron contemplates listening to country music briefly......OH HELL NO!!!! ðŸĪŠðŸ˜‡
* Faron reading on the Paint Forum....."Help! I need to decorate my house! My painter will be here in 12 seconds"!!!!!
* Or the dreadfully ambiguous "What COLOUR goes with my White-Dove on the Trim"?!??!!?
I'd better stop.
Need some HARD-ROCK Therapy....NOW!!!
Faron
(thanks for letting me VENT!)
😁😛😇ðŸĪŠ

Just to clarify Faron - you are in favor of or not in favor of pain and primer in one? Before you even answer I'll jump in - I HATE the stuff! Good paint is expensive. Cheap paint is expensive too, just in a different way.

If you can exactly match this green, you’ll be the most popular Houzzer in history:

I am so guilty of two of those, @Faron79. So, I'll ask...how can I match the paint that's been on my walls since 2000? I love it, but it really needs to be touched up.

    Fun2-
After 20 years, the color on your wall isn't the same as "Day 1" anyway!

    😇😁😉

@Faron79, I understand that, but I still would like to replicate whatever the color is now and I have no idea how to do that. I've pulled a million paint chips and some fan decks and I can't even get close.

    Hey Fun!

Cut out about a quarter (coin) sized piece from the side of a plug-in or switch. Pick an area that's representative of your desired version of the color. The sample can be rough on the back.....it can be glued back onto the wall! 😊

Then....get it up to Fargo, & I'll go to work!😇😉 Damn I'm GOOD!

@Fun2BHere - if your paint color is a color and not a bright white a color muse does a pretty decent job of reading the color and being able to come back with colors that are close. If it has been 20 years it is probably past time to refresh and repaint, but if you love the color you can repaint with something really close to what it has become over the past 20 years.

Color muse runs $69.00 and if this is the only time you expect to use it, you could use it once and return or use it once and donate it to your local paint store for others to borrow.

@Faron79 - I'm sorry that your 20 years of experience really has left you void of any real knowledge

. . . You simply don't understand that adding a specific combination of colorants to an opaque base suddenly makes the base nearly transparent. Ask any expert who has worked with painters who never skimp on coating and they will tell you the truth!

    Jennifer-

    Yes....you'd think I would've learned that!

However, I am now compromised because of a Stripper. I USED to know what I was doing!!!

    20 years.......gone to hell.......damn strippers. I'd rather use abrasives!

    See?!?!??! No stripper here!

    Just my Supervisor, pictured below:

    Oh....Jinx-

I can match damn near ANYTHING! That pic would be a piece of cake!!

"Help! I need to decorate my house! My painter will be here in 12 seconds"!!!!!

    ^^^This one

Your lack of prior planning does not constitute an emergency on my part.

    Great list, Faron!

Too bad paint strippers don't have stripper names.

All my life, I’ve wanted a paint company to use Pinky Tuscadero for a pink color and Leather Tuscadero for a brown.

    Maybe someday it will happen.

"Too bad paint strippers don't have stripper names."

Oh I don't know @cawaps - Stryp Eese makes for a good stripper name! ðŸĪĢ

@Jilly I have no idea who those people are. Nope. I'm too young.

    Mmmhmmm.

    😄

You don’t know how bad I wanted to be Pinky, dating The Fonz. She had that awesome satin jacket!

I prefer the use of "Stryp-eeze" in this context, thank you.....

I've heard from many people that Strippers aren't what they used to be! I keep a few around the store, but they just don't work as well anymore!
