I like the first option.

I think it depends on what backsplash you're using. A high contrast or busy design might look better with a different layout than if you're using a neutral calm backsplash that will blend into the wall.

Out of your choices I vote for number 1.

Pretty tile and your kitchen is, too! Is there 6" under the right side window (it looks like the window trim there is different than over the sink?) so you can get 2 full tiles stacked there? Otherwise are you going to have a 3" tile and a 1" sliver to fit the space?

Good Eye! The contractors left the kitchen sink window trim unfinished on that side bc of the tile, not sure why that was a good idea... there's 6in under the sink window and 5 1/2'' under the right window

Not sure how they make them fit but maybe a pro tiler will weigh in. One tile (the bottom one) 3" the next tile 2.25" to fit under the right hand window, with a 1/4" or less grout line?

What about low, like an inch or so so it comes right up to the window sill, when you get to the space between the windows bring it up to do like the drawings, then drop back down again under windows sill till the edge of the peninsula? I’m planning a similar layout! I’ll see if I can draw on your pic what I’m thinking !

Love the floors! And the black windows….whatever you do i would suggest cover the window sill over the sink with a leftover piece from the counter…great place for a plant or soap dispensers…also a darker thin strip ( cabinet color?)border of tile ….across the top of tile layout to match the cabinets….will make the layout look more interesting than just white

any of your options will work. I like more tile, so I'd do as much of the wall as possible

did you ever consider doing a diff hood? I think the chimney SS style is a bit to modern looking.

Another option you might want to consider, have the tile at the range hood go all the way to ceiling and to the 2 surrounding windows. Then for the left side (between cabinet and window), go about 1/2 way up from the bottom of the window on left side of range next to cabinet…don’t stop at the bottom of the wall cabinets…cuts your kitchen. Also, I have seen where the tile is taken to the edge of the (right) window and down to floor. It extends the kitchen vs stopping at counter top.

I'm curious to know what you decided on and if you have any photos of the end product... We're in the same boat right now in the decision making process for where to stop the tile in regards to height.
