Wrong window type installed during kitchen reno

In the middle of doing a full kitchen gut on my 1959 colonial. I'm deleting the window you see on the right, and the middle window (circled in red) is going to become two windows that are centered in the kitchen/sink. The big window you see on the left is the dining room window, which is staying. Inside the house, the kitchen and dining room are separated by a small wall (which helps in this situation).

I had asked for casement windows to match the style of downstairs windows, but GC installed double hung (the area that is circled is now two double hung windows where the kitchen sink is being relocated to). I've seen his work, and he is good, but I'm not the biggest fan of him and just trying to get through the project and back in my house at this point. Silver lining is that I have all double hung windows upstairs, so it's not a total mismatch. Plus, the view in the picture is from the back of the house. He claims we spoke about this, I don't remember that conversation.

I had wanted to keep it consistent with casement downstairs and double hung upstairs, but I know windows take a long time to be delivered and I would rather not delay the project. Wondering what you guys might advise. I spoke to him today, and it seems like changing the windows now would really delay the project. I feel like once I'm back in the house it won't bother me much. Just a bit annoyed because it wasn't what I asked for.

Again not in writing who knows. I do not like mixing window syles in a house but I need to see waht it looks like now You need to show us what is there now

I don't have any pictures of it from the outside, but what is there now (in place of the circled window) are two double-hung windows next to each other, and the window all the way to the right (in corner) has been deleted. And the two double-hung windows begin slightly more towards the right than the single circle window did.

My house already came with mixed window styles, but it was consistent upstairs was double hung, downstairs casement.

I will probably just leave it alone, and if it really bothers me, change them down the road.

Casement over the sink is much more convenient.

I'm not a huge window opener and I'm not short, so convenience doesn't bother me. I tested them when I was at the house, and they seem easy to open, and I never had trouble reaching for the window with the counter still there.

I'm more annoyed at mismatched style, but probably just gonna ignore for now and change down the road if they still bother me.

Thanks kandrewspa, all good points. Makes me feel better :)

What saves me on the inside of the house is that there's a slight "divide" between kitchen and dining room, so mismatched windows won't be super apparent on the inside. And when we're in my yard (mostly in the summer), we're enjoying my huge pool, so no one will really notice like you said. More annoyed that it wasn't what I asked for, but right now I just need this project to continue moving along.

Windows take months and months to be delivered these days, it seems. I just want back in my house already lol.

Some casement locks are on the top of the window, some on the side. Tall windows with locks on top can require a stepstool to unlock if you are of average height.

If your casement locks would have been on top, you could find that unlocking the double hung windows will be easier.

It comes down to if your happy. Since it is mismatched any way you go dont see a problem.

Well, would have been nice to at least coordinate upstairs vs downstairs windows, but all good. I don't have much of a choice at this point, but I do think it's something that I will get over quickly. Pool season is coming :)

Someone had the idea of maybe someday changing the big window on the left. I like that idea, as then the entire back of the house (of this portion, at least) would all be double-hung windows. But likely won't bother hehe
