Dark spots and Crossover in Cove Lighting

Got cove lighting installed and noticed:

1. a sharp fall off in the lighting creating a dark square in the center of the room

2. cross over on the corners where you can see where the light from the two strips cross over each other.

Does anyone have recommendations on how to soften or remove those two issues?

I figure the dark spot was always going to be there unless we install additional lights to brighten the center ceiling, but I didn't think the cut off line would be so sharp. Do diffusers or angling the light help? I don't want the LED strip to show.

Cross over would be nice to eliminate, but maybe that's not possible because the beam angles can't line up without using a visible divider dividing?

any advice is welcome. thanks!
