Waking up? Looks to be a full on party!

They look great. Is your publicalyx fragrant? I have three peduncles in full bloom and in the evening the entire lower floor of the house gets a ginds funky musty fragrance from them. Are your like that also?

Can you tell me who they are from the top down?

Enjoy, and keep those pictures coming.

Hoya pubicalyx cv. Splash AKA 'ROYAL HAWAIIAN PURPLE'

    Hoya Obovata splash

    Hoya pubicalyx fresno beauty

    Hoya Ban Ngong Ngoy

    Hoya australis

    Hoya pubicalyx Red Buttons

Really hard to tell since they are pretty much clustered together. Seems the pubicalyx and the Ban Ngong Ngony have the sweetest smell. Tho I went looking when the Obovata bloomed..smells like an orange grove out back.

Seems it is that time of year for the pubicalyx to bloom...I have the 3 types and all are going bonkers. Made a boatload of new starter plants. The mother plants were insanely huge so it was time to slice n dice :)

Next up is my Pachyclada and Multiflora Shooting Star..that will be fun. New plants for me, so this is going to be cool!!

Middle, Thank you so much. It really helps.

My publicalyx is very fragrant, but it's a odd type of smell. I imagine the publicalyx pollinators like it, but as they say, this on for me is an acquired taste!

My obavata bloomed last year, but I don't remember it being fragrant at all. Hmmm, maybe my smeller is broken! 👃

I really like your Hawaiian purple, I love the color.

    Enjoy and stay well ...

    @ Bill

"My obavata bloomed last year, but I don't remember it being fragrant at all."

You made me go sniff...Smells nice..soft sweet smell. The bloom is several days old now but after it bloomed it had droplets all over it. This one may have been the one that way screaming at me "Something is blooming!!" (Nope!! I will not taste it :P )

The others are further in the back of my yard but I can smell them in the air. My publicalyx have so many blooms it is insane. Amazing what a repot will do!!

So far they are all sweet smelling. Can't say the same for my life saver succulents....stinky!!

Middle, I think it was the obavata where I tasted the nectar. All my other hoyas, the nectar was very sweet and tasted so well I wanted to lick all the flowers. Now, the obavata, iirc, it was the most foul tasting I've ever tasted! Took hours to get the taste out of my mouth.

Go taste yours now, let me know if I remember correctly. 🤣😂😁

When my Pubicalyx bloomed for the first time it was veerryyy fragrant. I remember it smelling like chocolate covered cordial cherries but with a hint of some sickly sweet funk. I loved it though! it made me fall in love with hoyas.

And Bill, I tried the nectar from my wayetii! lol it wasn't bad actually!

Nilo, I think it's obavata which has the horrendous taste. I'll have to try wayetii when it blooms. This is starting to sound like a Hoya smorgasbord! Crimson Queen anyone? 😁

Hmmz...My wayetii OR tsangii had escaped from it's pot long ago and grows up my 62 year old reclinata palm. I no longer know which one it is. Took a look see today and it is in bloom so I might be able to finally identify the lil booger. Will be posting pics if I can get up that high LOL Maybe I can do a scratch n sniff or something. Might bottle up some nectar just fer Bill :)

If no one hears from me for awhile, I am probably in traction somewhere. That stupid palm is way over 20 ft high and takes up 1/3 of my yard back there. Great for Hoya, Orchids and ferns tho. The needles on it are nasty when stepped upon.

Lol Bill ill let you know when my obovata blooms! its kind of like when someones like ”oh my god this smells horrible, here smell it!”

Middle, I am going to train for the Hoya nectar connoisseur position posted at the local botanical garden. What could possibly go wrong? 😂

Here we go again..blooms galore!! My Hoya Kerrii (Variegated Green Spot) is teasing me with the promise of flowers..had this thing since 2007..it will be my 1st bloom on it. Same story with my HOYA POTTSII 'CHIANG MAI & Hoya pachyclada 'Apodagis' Zoom in to see the buds.

    Eye candy posted below :)

Now the Hoya pachyclada 'Apodagis' has 2 budlettes. It started with the one in focus..tried to push out lil yellow thingys then it poured for 3 days and they all fell off..unopened. Middl3Finger Xed they open this time.

    All open in full splendor

    Hoya Mutiflora Shooting Star

Heavy Rains knocked off the rest of the blooms.

Hoya Wayetii in the palm. IDENTIFIED!! \o/

My previous pics are still blooming like crazy. Smells good out back these days and the wasp n bees are buzzin'

BTW all, Kate's nursery is having a VIP sale..she has supplied me with many of my plantz...Check out her place..good people with reasonable prices. EVERYTHING is well established in the pots. Pimping her so she continue to supply me with goodies. Shameless I know but I want her to survive. www.paradisefoundnursery.com

    @ Bill

    Still trying to develop a scratch n sniff..maybe I should do a lick n spit instead!! :D

Had a super duper surprise today!! Went out to check on the kids ready to bloom and this one was sitting there saying "Can you see me now!!" This thing has never bloomed for me that I recall..what a sweet display of nature.

    Hoya pentaphlebia

This one gets really red in brighter sun. Moved it last week to a shadier spot and whalla!! Not sure that had anything to do with it lol (Note to self: Pull the weeds)

My Hoya Lacunosa finally did the deed as well. This plant is fairly new to me so this was a good thing.

Just for giggles here is a shot of one of my Dischidia in bloom..but it seems to always be in bloom.

    Dischidia Oiantha (Geri)

Very pretty! Would love to see a pic of the pentaphlebia leaves. Are they red?

    @Tika Land

Super red in bright light..green in super shade.

Okay this is super strange..the photo I took yesterday the flower was open...today....Went to take photos of the leaves for Tika Land and same cluster flower is closed. Do Hoyas do that?? WTF!!

    @ Bill

This one had a super faint smell yesterday..maybe my close up face sniffing it freaked it out and the flowers closed back up. lololol This is so strange.

@Middl3 Fing3r WOW 😍! The leaves are gorgeous!! That’s weird the flowers closed up. I have never seen that.

Middle, I'm sure when you pushed your nose into the flowers the plant thought "My God! Look at the size of the bees in this area! I'm closing up shop before I let that bee pollinate me!" 🤣

    @Bill M.

It has not opened back up, so I scared it really good roflmao Thought maybe it was a day bloomer only..NOPE!! had to have been my fugly mug invading it's space. Glad I took the pic when I did for my records. Poor lil thing is scarred for life.

Okay now I am totally confused. What I thought was my Hoya Wayetii is now in flower and it looks nothing like I was imagining or any pics on the net.

Not at all what I was expecting. This is a very old huge mother plant in a 14" pot that has runith over. Leaves are as follows......

This thing is full of soon to be open flowers. Was waiting till they all bloomed and then I was going to chop it up.

Anyone know what this one is?????? I so thought I had this one figured out. Durr my head is starting to hurt O_o The HOYA Wayetti doesn't appear to have the 5 star flower petals..do those fall off and simply become the "nub" flower?? Haven't sniffed it....lessons learned. :P

    UPDATE:

Went back out to take another gander at the wayetii and some of the flowers are pulling back and they are looking like what I had expected. They are becoming "nub" flowers as the 5 petals pull back. Guess it was another case of pre-photoulation :P

The leaves of your pentaphlebia are breathtaking!! Adding it to my ever growing wishlist & placing it fairly high up on the list, because those leaves are jewel like flower subs in the pot at all times, so I really won't mind if it take years to bloom, or never blooms at all. The leaves are everything - they're more than enough all by themselves!🥰

This thing has never bloomed or put out new anything for me and now there are buds at almost every joint. I am starting to be convinced that chopping on old plant makes them more leafy and bloom like crazy..

    Hoya Kerrii (Variegated Green Spot)

BTW does anyone know what those things in the center of this cluster are?? So far none of the other blooms have them.

Those are additional blooms. Mine does it also.

Btw, taste the nectar, tell me if it's the horrible one I remember. 😁

    @Bill M.

LOL No frickin' way!! It do smell good enough to taste tho :P Sweet smell..candy like.

It wasn't the obovata.... I tasted mine <---ya made me!!

Morning bliss!! Been awaiting their opening...

Hoya blashernaezii ssp. suariae 'red form'

and claimed to be the most fragrant out there....I have to say tho my pubicalyx have beat them all so far for smell.

    Hoya Pallida

Wow Middle. My pubs have zero smell. They bloom frequently, but nothing I can detect as far a fragrance goes.

You keep growing them and posting those pictures, we all love 'em.

Stay well and the very best to you....

    Middl3 Fing3r thanked Bill M.

My pubicalyx has so far been the most fragrant for me too! it smells almost like carnosa to me but like sickly sweet after a while. i love it though.
