PLEASE ADVISE: CROWN GALLS

I moved into my first owned home with a mature cherry blossom in the front. Was super pumped until I removed all the leaves previous owner did not take care of. No big deal, but I discovered and learned about crown gall. I am heartbroken that I may have to say goodbye to my lovely tree. So, anyone have to deal with these crown galls? Solutions? How to tolerate these things without killing my entire yard?
