Colors, counters, hardware, backsplash, floor, table nook…any and all ideas welcome please.

Not seeing a kitchen in that photo other than a little corner of it. Can you provide photos of the kitchen?

I see a dining room leaning towards traditional. If you want comments on the kitchen please post photos of the kitchen.

I cant imagine anything really worth a big ticket project. backsplash tile would give an opportunity. If you want a discretionary total change/ transformation, then show inspiration pictures...browse through kitchen showrooms.... and establish a budget.

You have a beautiful space with so many windows. But your cabinets are a very traditional style. I think you're blocked out of "modern" unless/until you are ready for a full replacement or cabinet reface. You could take things towards "transitional" with some modest changes. New tile and dining set, as Emily said. New tile would be the single biggest improvement you could make. Then consider more streamlined cabinet pulls, a simpler faucet shape, and a new dining table chandelier. I think brass would be a great metal for your pulls and light fixture.

Here's my current favorite dining chandelier. I think a style like this could be great in your space.

You have a lovely traditional kitchen.

Inexpensive and easy changes o move it a little way from the traditional into more eclectic: Get rid of the backsplash and do something simple in a plain color. Change out the pulls to less fancy ones. Remove the wooden valence over the sink. Get a new, more casual dining set with modern overtones. A new more streamlined chandelier would help too.

Your kitchen looks very nice as it is. I like the others, am not fond of the backsplash. You could also use a bit of color in there. It is done nicely, but, appears a bit bland, because, there is no colorful rugs, and accessories, and art work on the walls.

It’s a beautiful kitchen. You can do a rug, with one that coordinates under the dining set. And I agree with you about the backsplash - maybe change that.

Sometimes when people say they want their decor to more modern, they really mean they want a more current ”look” . It is possible she didnt mean ”modern” as in sleek, glossy slab panelled doors without visible hardware…that kind of ”modern”.

Suhair, what kind of kitchen do you want?

to me, that kitchen appears spacious, open. It has lots of counter space, and the colors coordinate well. I like it a lot. But then, I like creamy, warm tones. Do you?

Thank you for your responses. We just bought the house and I wanted to update the kitchen a bit. I hate the backsplash so I will change that and the hardware and the light fixture. I will also buy a new table. Can’t do much with the cabinets outside of painting them right now. Also not 100% sure what style I want but definitely a newer modern. Not sleek and glossy

Will also do new flooring so debating on wood throughout or tile in the foyer/kitchen.

Since you are a new home buyer and you already have a beautiful kitchen, leave it all for 6 months to a yr. You are excited now, and want changes, since you really dont need them, save your money, because, what you think you want right now, will be something, you do not want later. You need to live with it a while, to find out, just what works for you, and what doesnt. Some move into a house, where the kitchen has to be done, just to be functional. Thats not the case in your house. Add a rug on the floor, and some colorful accessories and live in it and enjoy it, for a while. Believe me, in 6 months, you will know exactly what you like and dont like.

Maybe start saving pictures of kitchens you love, so when you decide to overhaul, you know exactly what you want.

Here some dining areas that would work with your current kitchen but a little more relaxed style.
