I would start with a larger rectangular rug like the one in your 1st inspo picture

yes, a large rectangular rug to fill the space. Buy one you absolutely LOVE and bring it home and dream on the paint color scheme to compliment it.

I would spin the table and center it under the light fixture.

Create a seating arrangement in front of the fireplace, even if you don't use it, it's your focal point.

If it were mine, I would paint out the entire room, ceiling, walls, and trim the same very light color you choose.

You can purchase very simple, modern molded ceiling medallions to cover the holes in your ceiling. Then you can hang or mount any fixture that you like—-semi flush or pendant/chandelier. Check them out….

I like your chairs, too, and the idea of painting walls, ceiling, trim the same color. I would choose a color to compliment your flooring (wood floors and rug). What direction does the room face? Natural light will have a different affect on the color depending on the exposure. For instance, Sherwin Williams Creamy will appear more yellowed in a south facing room, but be neutralized to a warm off-white by the gray/blue cast in a north facing room.

Not loving the curtains and long curtain rod. If you decided to paint all the woodwork, maybe wait and see how you feel with no curtains. Maybe you'd like fabric or woven blinds on the two windows instead. If you want curtains, maybe trim the top of the windows to be even with the top of the French doors and add another curtain panel to each side to overlap the window frames a bit (or maybe they just need spread out a little). This will give them more presence instead of being squished in the corners.

Have you considered a grouping of photos on the wall that currently has the large painting? I would reframe your wedding photo (at least that's what I think it is) to have a mat with wider margins. You could replace your speakers with a small wireless bluetooth one. This little JBL speaker has great sound, and wouldn't be prominent in the room.
