I suggest you answer tsugaljunkie"s question because she is about to give you a long term plan (possiblly a short term as well). I'm not a proponent of synthetic fertilize but if I need quick results I sometimes use Miracle Grow. That's what I'd do only until plant blooms and at the same time start organic soil improvement.

No,but tsugajunkie z5 SE WI ♱ certainly is. But the issue is why a male inserts "gal" in his user name. If you tell me you have gal in yours to conceal gender I have no objection but you shouldn't be surprised when it confuses folks. It took some time to get it through my head "If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck,it's probably a duck". I'm not adjusting well to the 50/50 chance it's a rooster and I'm not about to start looking under wings to find out.

It was long way around but I think I'm finally up to speed. I did indeed read j as l and evidently read the letter between k and e as i instead of l . I do have vision issues plus even under magnification, there's something going on with letters in the posts. I call your attention to the afore mentioned j and the j in body of message immediately above this. The dot above lowercase is present in letters then other times it's not present. Or so it appears to these old worn out peepers.

The so called handwriting (no pun) on the wall seems to be getting clearer ( once again no pun) to me. For instance I recently saw a lad sitting on the curb crying his eyes out. When I asked what seems to be the problem son? He answered "I can't run with the big boys". I said scoot over I'm going to join you. God bless and and all the best to y'all.

In time (if not already) it will clog and prevent the flow of water and oxygen to the soil and basically kill the soil life.

Chiming in late from far NW Austin to say my earlier-blooming varieties of daylily are poking up bud stalks today. Later varieties are still thinking about it.
