Please help! My black pants stained dining chair

After sitting in the chair for about 2 hours, I noticed my hands and nails looked black. It was the black pants I was wearing that stained my hands and my MIL’s dining chair. I took the chair home to see what I could do,but I don’t want to make it worse. I called some professional carpet/upholstery cleaners and one said he’ll see what he can do but he’s not confident about it.

Anyone ever deal with this??

Oh no! I haven’t but I’ve read about it happening with dark dyed blue jeans on light colored sofas. I’m always sure to wash dark clothes before wearing. Which doesn’t help you now. Google says this:. How to remove dye But it’s going to depend on the washability of the fabric . Maybe slipcovers for all the chairs?

I read that too, but was wondering if anyone dealt with this personally. It wasn’t from black jeans, but black leggings - believe it or not! Never happened from leggings before. I hope they get it out or I’ll be paying for new upholstery on all 5 chairs 😐

That happened to me in a car with light, fabric seats. Since that experience, I wash everything new at least twice!

My experience was many years ago so my memory is foggy. I think I used warm water with Dawn, rubbed well with rags to lift the stain. I didn't wet the fabric heavily, thus the rags which had a rough texture.

If it was me, I would work on it with warm soapy water rubbing well with microfiber clothes. You could try a upholstery cleaner and rub it, changing rags. Wonder if there's a carpet cleaner machine with attachments for small areas.

I did get the stain out, but I worked on it immediately. I wouldn't let it sit too long.

I had it happen to my brand new dining chairs. They were white PU leather. I did everything I could think of. Magic eraser, laundry stain remover, vinegar and baking soda, dawn. Multiple times in all of these. The stain got lighter but never came out. Lesson learned. Wash everything with the remotest chance of staining multiple times before wearing.

Honestly get on it as soon as possible. The longer it sits the more stuck it will be.

Wow!! He got the stains out. He's had the chair for over a month, but he did it! Now to return the chair to my MIL. Thanks to Bob from Huntington Rug and Upholstery Cleaning!!
