I think undulata does that, throws out eratic uglies.

@hosta_maker I had to look all those words up! lol. Thanks for letting me know that it is undulata. Should I cut out the odd leaves? or leave them? and yes I agree, outhouse delight does look a little sad

No its not a fungus or disease. is just what it does. it was an early plant in US before better ones came along.

it looks ok in spring then gets tattered later. its a fast grower so became popular when hosta were new to the US

I agree that undulata can have those kind of leaves, but not always. I have undulata and have not had that happen. Right now I can't find a late season picture. But this picture was taken in July.

@ken_adrian Adrian MI cold Z5 thank you! I will. I am just super paranoid about the HVX since I have no idea what I am doing. I traded a hosta about a year ago and turns out that the one he gave me had it. Thankfully I had read about it on here just the day before! You and others helped me from not planting it. which I was very thankful for.

ken, lol. yes there is a daddy ham, and three baby hams. just like the show peppa pig (daddy pig, mama pig, peppa pig, george pig..) "ham" is in our family name... no actual pigs here though, too urban.
