Some have success by killing bugs,grubs and worms in the soil but imo that's more harmful than holes in yard.

They will destroy a live trap if you are successful in trapping them. Dogs harassing them doesn't make them leave. Simplest option is shooting it if you have the stomach. Pest control companies have special traps.

Here's my preferred solution. They are easier to sneak up on than other pests. The average teen boy,man or athiletic lady can grab the tail and hoist off ground,drop it in a barrel to be relocated. The only danger is their claws while handling them but if you hold them at arms length by the tail they are harmless.

If you decide to try to sneak up on it, may help to know they can jump 3 or 4 feet straight up when frightened. Nothing dangerous - but can be quite startling if not expecting it.

That's true and the reason they always hit bottom of car when straddled,even jacked up 4x4 trucks. You also pick them up quickly because they can really dig in and pull.
