Tiny bathroom and tile size

last modified: 4 years ago

Hello everyone,

We are remodeling a tiny bathroom. The whole bathroom is 6'11" x 3'8". we are trying to figure out the tile size for the toilet and sink space. As you can see, it is tiny, about 4' x 3'8". Basically, I would like opinions on what will give it the most "space". What color, shape, and size of tile? I know 5 years ago people were into large tiles in small spaces but have things changed?

Also, on a side note, we do not want white grout. We live in the country and have two kids and a large dog. White grout is just asking for trouble. We are not opposed to some sort of print or pattern that hides dirt either. I like herringbone, and hexagonal tile (we are putting some in our other bathroom). But we are pretty open as of now (except for white grout), so any opinions are welcome.

Below is the vanity we are most likely putting in this space. And the fixtures will be oil-rubbed bronze.
