No, it does not, it is very well insulated for use specifically in this application of a living space. I opted to install a garage door becuase I did not want french doors to be in the way when open. This allows for the sense that the wall is opened up when it is up in the tracks.

Thanks for the comment. I live in New Orleans. There is a Mexican restaurant nearby that has garage doors. They separate the inner dining area from the patio, so they are open most of the time. I guess I have a hard time translating a garage door from commercial use to residential use, as is shown here. I will grant that our climate is a bit more harsh than what is depicted in this story. Actually our climate in Portland has been quite rainy and windy as of late, a really cold spring here. I have never had any water or air intrusion but I should not comment that is is worse as I do not know for certain. I have loved the look and the operation and never think about it much until someone asks about it. I use this space as my design studio. The heat is radiant in the concrete floors, therefore that is quite efficient too.
