Give them room! Back in the day I spent waaaay too much time rearranging due to over crowding. It's hard to think about how fast they grow.

Being in zone 8, they won't get to the same size they would in up north. Our heat kind of limits that. I would count on 2/3 the size myhostas.be says they will get to. Another link that will give you some information about ultimate size, etc. is hostaregistrar.org.

I would sketch it out once you know their sizes. And make sure to consider their coloring or variagation so they contrast nicely with each other. If you place them according the measurements, you’ll have plenty of room to interplant with other shade plants.

For example, Monrovia’s website says S&S will get ~ 5.5’ wide and June to 2.5’ wide. Add thier diameters together 5.5+2.5=8 Divide by 2 to get 4’. You would place the crown of your S&S 4’ from the crown of your June. They will probably never touch unless you‘re fertilizing and watering to get them that big and even then it’ll be awhile.

Good point about hostas growing different here in the south. I'm relatively new to gardening in the south as we moved here from Indiana last year. There hostas grow beautifully. Many of these hostas are coming from an Ohio nursery with my mother in law. I've noticed that the plant nurseries here by me don't offer much of a selection of hostas.

I forgot to mention that they are all going on a hill as my yard is uneven for the most part. I'll post pictures once they are planted.
