New build window selection

I am about to start construction on our custom built home. I was surprised our builder had Jeldwen windows in our quote. Are there any circumstances when this is a good idea? We live in northwest Indiana (basically a suburb of Chicago). What are your thought on a good solid low maintenance vinyl? Looking for attractive, efficient, double hung, low noise.

Absolutely not in my opinion.

Okna, Sunrise, Vytex & Sortlite are the brands I would be looking for. Your "builder" may not have access to them though as hey typically go thru an authorized dealer network, but I could be off.

They had quoted a Brickmould vinyl from Jeldwen. Does that make any difference? What are your thoughts on Marvin fiberglass?

NO, everything and anything Jeldwen is junk. Marvin fiberglass is a solid window. Performance is slightly better than average and definitely lower performance than the above mentioned value brands.

Thanks for your input. I was able to visit a showroom today. It not even close. Quality was visibly different even from my untrained eye.
