Nice weigelia, Sherry. I just took out a weigelia because it was not blooming well. Mine was not variegated though, that might would have saved it. My lilacs are finished, I love the fragrance. Nice of your friend to share, that is a lovely spot!

Nancy, this weigela does well in a spot that gets a decent amount of shade. It is also smaller than most varieties.

Such nice plants at your garden, and I also love your Bluebird of Happiness in the last shot with your found chair.....Do you have to shape your Weigela much? I have read it's a one trick pony with a short bloom period then the blahs the rest of the season. I think not with that variegated foliage. That elevates its appeal to me.............Batik always wows me.......Maryl

Spring definitely has sprung for you. Lilacs are one bush I wish to plant here. I miss the fragrance and the lovely blooms. Good idea on the repurposed chair.

Maryl, this weigela rarely needs to be trimmed, it keeps this shape for me. The foliage makes this appealing all season. if I remember correctly its maximum height is 4’.

Such a heavily budded Batik! I think my weigela is just like yours, but is 6 feet tall. It bloomed in one of the cooler periods and gave a nice display for many days. Many years old, of course. Yes, here the spring freezes reduced lilac bloom quality and quantity. Intermittently, we have also had excessive heat.

What beautiful spring flowers! That chair is a nice addition to that spot in the garden.
