So far, I have found very few slugs and almost no damage from them this year, which I find very surprising considering how cool and damp it has been. I have no explanation for it other than last summer's dryness and my forays with Sluggo may have reduced populations to manageable levels.

I did find one newly purchased lupine very well munched but my fault for temporarily placing the pot in the midst of a groundcover that provides an excellent hiding place.......

So sorry, oursteelers. They are the ugliest pest on the planet and do so much damage.

I get a lot of slugs in my window wells. Think they feed off the slime growing on the corrugated metal. Didn't even know they ate plants. Maybe you should get some slimy corrugated metal.

So sorry for your troubles! I don’t have slug problems right now, but I am currently engaged in a battle with the most vile, horrid creature I’ve ever encountered - a fat, waddling groundhog who ate all my yarrow, petunias, and two of my tomato plants.

Oursteelersfeelers, you do drenching twice a year and have slug?? Yikes!!!!

Maybe increase your ratio……..can do mid summer drench too…….I feel bad, I haven’t been able to drench yet because it’s been so cold and nothing was pipping. Usually I do this in April. Now it’s been rainy, finally, so I can’t drench until it stops. Good news is so far I have not had any damage! 🤞🏼

I have some kind of caterpillar that likes to eat my marigolds in just one area at camp. My go to for insects is Permethrin. The problem I having this year at camp is bunnies. We have a bumper crop of them this year. The Irish Spring isn't working. They are eating my lighter colored hostas and a yellow flower I transplanted from home (name?). It has been too cool for the snakes to come out and do their job. So I'm going to grab some wire baskets from home and put them on their favorite plants to eat. I pretty sure they are living in the weeds under the pine trees, so I might just weed wack the weeds down and maybe they with move on. .

The bunnies haven’t been too bad this year-the cats have been doing their jobs, sadly for Peter Rabbit :(

oursteelers so sorry about your slug infestation, they are nasty. We could only wish deer ate slugs instead of plants.

I just posted on the New England gardening forum about slugs. i have already killed dozens this year…I pick them off the plants and put tmem in a dish of salt. In two day period last year i killed a thousand!

Oh, I'm right there with you on the slugs and snails. They eat everything and there are so many this year, despite my efforts!

The slugs don't seam to much my roses but the squirrels...oh, the squirrels run around the garden this time of year chomping on rose buds, taking bites andv sometimes event ripping off while buds, too. Later in the season the squirrels have nuts to eat but right now, there's nothing on the trees.

If deer ate slugs it would be magic!!!

What's the difference between a slug and escargot?

I'm thinking that it's too bad squirrels don't eat them, too. Maybe all of us in the rainy part of PNW need pet ducks.

Erasmus, are escargot snails? Slugs and snails i think are related but slugs don't have shells.

I didn't want salt in my garden. Diluted ammonia in a spray bottle is what I used when I went on slug patrol.
