I disagree. We're talking about a wood top here--not stone--and there are plenty of wooden tables with a single pedestal. This has a pedestal one one side and cabinets on the other. It's more stable than my dining table.

(I would not be surprised if the inspiration counter had a sheet of plywood inset into the underside, though, as it's end grain BB. Actually, you can see some of it support peeking through on the right corner. It's blue to match.)

Look at the underside of any pedestal table. Its spoked, and usually with corbels or flanges to increase the rigidity of the spokes.

Thank you all! From reading the comments it appears that if I want to be on the safe side, I’ll need some kind of extra support, whether it’s a sheet of plywood or a frame. It’s a great idea to consult the countertop maker, and maybe even go for a 2” thickness can help… either way, even with two legs I can still achieve sitting in front of each other on both sides which is my ultimate goal. I hope to have an update sometime during the summer!
