Thank you both. I was hopeful that it might be pear since it doesn't look like peach or nectarine. I think the only other fruits we had at the time were cherry and apple. If these were growing in any other spot in the yard, I would think weeds and pull them out. But this spot was marked for expecting whatever fruit seeds or pits were stuck into that spot. I did end up planting a gaura from a nursery late last year right by this marked area, and while the gaura didn't survive the Winter, I'm wondering if these came here as seeds with the potted gaura last year. That nursery grows native/wild flowers, no trees that I know of, and these seedlings already have thick stems that make me think tree. Of course the chipmunks or the wind could have brought something in too, but again this exact spot was marked for expecting fruit tree seedlings and had the gaura nearby.

I could have sworn that they had brownish woody stems before that looked like tree seedlings to me...but they don't. They're thick but soft and green (were reddish/brownish at the base).

Ah, that's disappointing, but thank you much tsugajunkie and all! These probably came with the potted gaura then since there are 4 of these seedlings in the very area that had the gaura and should have had the fruit tree seedlings. I've not seen these seedlings anywhere else in the yard, so that's my best explanation especially since the gaura's nursery grows native/wild plants (mostly perennials though whereas impatiens capensis is annual from what I'm reading).
