@Kelly Fuchs, I have Artistic Paver Shellock pavers in Ivory in my new build. I chose them because a family friend had them on their lanai and pool deck for 12 years and were very happy with them. My friends decided to move and build, just before we built, and they used them again in their new house.

I wanted a light off-white color and relatively easy maintenance. We have been in for 5 months, but still had construction going on and our pool screen enclosure was only finished this week. The pavers still look good after all the dirt and mess the last few months.

You see them used in outdoor malls, sidewalks and public/club pools, so they are quite durable. They are supposed to stay cooler to the touch compared to other pavers. I have dogs who eat raw bones outside and a DH who isn't careful, so durability was very important.

I have shellstone pavers. They can be brittle and chip at the corners. The tiles crack easily and they are a pain to keep clean because they are porous.

The shellstone is beautiful!

I"m trying to research the difference!!!! Let me know if you figured this out! We installed shellstone around pool and all this rust stuff is coming thru. Looks terrible! They also installed it on the spa top but I think this may be shelllock. It's not changing color. But I don't know if that is because the material or that it's not on the ground which may be a reason my stones are changing! I'm dying! So trying to do some research!

I'm in the same boat and was looking at installing shellstone, but my installer has warned me about staining from below. That he'd need to lay down a liner between the paver and soil AND he'd have me sign a waiver. I think Shellock may be the way to go.

He said he'd have to lay down a protective sheet between the soil and the shellstone, because of potential staining coming from the soil below. He also said I'd need to sign a waiver, so I think Shellock may be the way to go.

I see large homes/hotels use it and they may not lay any barriers, but they probably have the money to fix it at will.

Still very happy with my Shellock pavers in Ivory, from Artistic Paver. We have been in the house 2.5 years now. Easy to clean and no staining.

@chispa where is your pool project located? Trying to find Shellock in SC...Please share an,y photos and feedback, would love to see it and hear your thoughts about how hot, slippery when wet, and stain-proof these pavers are. Thanks so much!

@Amber Homes and Design LLC, we live in southwest FL. Still happy with the shellock pavers after 3.5 years. I don't spend much time barefoot outside, but no complaints about the surface temperature or how slippery when we have family with small kids visiting.

Have not had any issues with stains, even next to the bbq grill where we've had stuff drip on the pavers. My dogs eat raw bones out on the lanai and no issues with staining either.

The only maintenance issue is that we do get some weeds between the paver, but that is an installation issue and not the pavers. A quick spray with roundup takes care of the weeds when they pop up.
