I'm not sure if a barn door would be the right style for this home. What are you trying to accomplish? Noise abatement or just simply privacy? (note: a barn door will be terrible for noise, you'll want a normal solid core door for that.)

Edit: if you must do a barn door, I like the balance this two-door style gives. It looks a little more classic and less "farmhouse" than other barn doors:

Consider using two 18” panel doors that join at the middle for example. Not sure the width there. Could be ornate but not sure what in keeping with your style. Enlist a carpenter if needed.

How about a French door? I feel like you have a trad vibe going there and those barn doors are maybe too rustic?

The photos are deceiving in that it’s an awkward space. The French doors would look great, but there isn’t room to open out due to the narrow walkway between the stair railing, and the office is small so can’t open in either. Both water and electrical run through the walls which eliminates a pocket door unless we want to do major construction.

Is there space to mount the door inside of the room?

On the inside, the counters and drawers run flush up to the opening, and the other side has about 2 feet of wall space before running into the laundry room door.

I would use a pocket door

I think I’d do a single frosted glass door. Depending on what your goals are anyway.

Yeah I’d also look more into options/costs for the pocket door.

Another option would be a hidden door.

Pocket door is ideal, but not worth the construction and re-wiring/piping electrical and water that is already in that wall.
