Kitchen layout question

Hi, we're planning on a new kitchen and this is the design we've had drawn up. I'm wondering if the fridge is ok being so far from the sink (it's about 12 feet)? The area beside the fridge is meant as a mudroom area with coat hooks, just fyi. Thanks!

Not only is the fridge too far from the sink, but the island is a roadblock between the two.

Despite brainwashing by this site and HGTV, not all kitchens can accommodate an island.

I have a similar layout, fridge across from sink (10’ between) with island in between and stove across from island. I love the layout. I can pull ingredients out of the fridge and set on the island do my prep work then turn and cook. The sink is close to my prep area.

I wouldn't like the fridge so far from the sink but I don't think the island is in the way. Does the budget allow for a prep sink in the island?

You didn't ask, but I'd rethink the two level peninsula. I just moved into a house with a two level island and I really don't like it.

I wouldn't like the distance. But what would bother me more is having the traffic path to the patio slider running through the kitchen. Why not flip things, so the "dead end" breakfast nook is part of the kitchen space, and the dining space is on the patio side?

Can't tell without dimensions whether you have room for a dining table and seating at the peninsula there. If not, eliminate the bar seating. Dining table and chairs is much more comfortable for most people.

If you are able to flip the kitchen with the dining room as mcarroll16 suggests, I think a galley kitchen makes more sense.

Here’s a really lovely galley style kitchen. It has a very efficient work triangle.

Thanks for the feedback! I'd rather not flip kitchen and dining bc we like the dining connecting to the living room and realistically the kitchen is never as clean as staged pictures so I don't want to see it from the couch but I see what the idea is there. I've attached a rough floor plan and rough kitchen measurements. Right now there's a wall in the middle (it's about 8 feet long) that we were going to remove but it doesn't have to come out. I'd like to eliminate the peninsula blocking the patio door (blocks flow when outdoor cooking) and utilize the whole space. Sink & dishwasher are currently in that peninsula, fridge is hugged in the L wall, stoves is against exterior wall. Thanks again for the input.
