Paolo - Thanks for your interest in this project. I don't know that there's a particular "name" for this shape. I've attached an aerial photo (not great resolution, but helpful). The house is L-shaped with the part closest to the street being the garage. It's more or less a rectangular yard and the driveway comes in off the street, then curves 90-degrees into the garage. The original layout had a lawn as the only thing to the left of the driveway, and a brick retaining wall along the sidewalk. We removed the lawn and brick wall and created a walkway that makes an S-curve while walking up 3 or 4 steps. Then, unfortunately, someone arriving at the house has to walk across the driveway to reach the front door. Not as welcoming as I'd like, but no other way to get there.
