All of those plants want the same conditions - very well drained but lean soil (critical!!), plenty of sun and only enough water to get them established. One or more of those factors is off if you continue to have issues and my first guess would be the drainage.

Where are you located? In a hot area against a west facing wall with all the extra reflected afternoon heat is a tough place for most plants. Plants that are successful here in those conditions include cacti, agave, chupurosa, texas rangers, cassias and cordias.

Apache plume doesn't need amended soil but if you just planted them very recently perhaps this is a bad time of year to plant them against a hot wall? In hot areas early spring and fall are best planting times.

i have grown all those plants and they are tough but the middle of summer is hard on a plant that hasn't had time to get established..
