Creative solutions for off centered mirror

My husband and I recently purchased a property in our dream neighborhood that very much needs some love and we’re working on putting in the elbow grease to make our dream home. One of the projects we are tackling ourselves is the basement bathroom. Because we are on a budget to DIY this bathroom, we are looking to keep sink, toilet, and shower where they are but are running into a challenge with the placement of the mirror. There is a window with a large but obtrusive shelf that extends about half way across where a mirror would be above the sink. The sink is currently against the corner of the bathroom with only approx 12 inches of wall space to the right of the sink before the door frame starts. As the first picture shows, the previous tenant had hung a mirror off center and removed once they moved out. Does the community have any ideas on how to accommodate a mirror while keeping the shelf. If it’s basement bathroom, is a mirror truly necessary? Thanks so much!
