Costco Botched Microwave install. I purchased a microwave from Costco. The installers from Costco did not install the microwave correctly. They did not use the brackets or screws that came with the microwave. They installed the microwave with just two bolts on top drilled into cabinet. They drilled the holes in the cabinet way too large and installed a washer with the screw. The washer is barely on the cabinet since there is a hole around 3/4 of the washer. They did not use the screws on the wall to help support the microwave. During the rough install the cabinet was moving. I am afraid the microwave will come crashing down! After the install they told me they were plumbers and thought they were installing a dishwasher! I called Costco and they told me to wait 3-5 days for someone to contact me back to make an appointment to have it checked. Please help

It sure is a mess. The only thing you can do is wait the 3 to 5 days for a call back. We all hear those words lately, and it is frustrating. Nobody has help. No one wants to work. Good luck.

"They did not use the brackets or screws that came with the microwave."

"They did not use the screws on the wall to help support the microwave."

In my experience with GE and Samsung microwaves, a bracket is attached to the rear wall, the oven is clipped on to the bracket, and then the oven is swung upward to meet the cabinet above where it is secured in place with two bolts (see this Lowes video).

You could solve the too-large-holes problem but unbolting the oven, placing blocks of wood with the correct-size holes over the existing holes, and then reinserting the bolts through washers, blocks of wood, cabinet bottom, and into the oven. However, if the wall bracket is missing or it is not attached to wall studs behind the oven, then the whole installation must be redone.

Thank you. They did put a long metal bracket on wall. Costco put through a damage claim against the installers they hired. The installers are from NJ. They are Nickson Home Services. Horrible customer service from them. i called multiple times to speak to manager and he refuses to answer or return my calls. Hopefully i get a resolutoon soon

"During the rough install the cabinet was moving."

I don't know what this means but if the cabinet supporting the oven is not solid, the oven should not be hung on it.

Your issue is with who you paid. They hired incompetents.

One home, 3-4 different client sourced low bid appliance retailers (one local, balance big box), 2021:

Gas leak at dryer - we supervised their redo

Refer not hooked up to water -we redid

Oven install not complete - we redid

BI double refer left 1/2" down from frame (gap) - they sent one for a two installer job

Wolf/Subzero requires factory certified installers for their extended warranty. The reason becomes clearer.
