1. Ill give you my opinion, it’s free sooooo. The black door with black siding. It sounds like a beautiful door from your description, but unfortunately nobody will take notice as your door is just going to blend in with the siding, virtually erasing what could/should be the focal point of your front elevation. If you were trying not to use color on your FD, I would have gone with a wood finish. Theoretically, a front door should stand out a bit to welcome guests to your home. The overhang /porch area is going to look like a black hole. Look at the picture you posted, right now all you can see is the white door, imagine if it were black. To each his own tho and its your vision, Id like to see other opinions. The answer to your original question to me is black. Good luck.

Sidelights should match the door IMO I agree with M Riz regarding colour though. I wouldn’t go with black

Agree again. Black house without a high contrast black door doesn’t do justice to either the exterior or the entrance. I love the black paint on the outside, with the trim. Needs a bright colored door or a classic wood door.

I vote for wood as well. Just curious, what made you choose black for the door? Do you have an inspiration picture? Maybe we are all missing something.

Thanks so much for weighing in! After I looked at the picture for a bit, I agree with all of you! So now my thought is painting the trim white and the door a vibrant color - maybe in the green family? Is it dated though, to have the trim and the door different colors?

The reason i had black in my brain is that initially we were going to do white on the house. I do love the black though. So now I am leaning toward the door frame and sidelights painted white and a vibrant color front door. I am shying away from the wood look because I'm seeing some negative reviews on doing that with ThermaTru doors. Would love input

Oh I love that green. OP, do you have a color you love or are using as an accent in your home. You could have your door preview the colors in your home.

I had a Therm Tru Fiber Classic Mahogany series door that was stained. My painter stained it for me and I had no issues with it for 16 years. There are options depending on the wood tone you want. You do need to restain periodically because it can fade from sunlight etc.

Guys, I so appreciate all the input! Jackie, that green is striking! M Riz, I am leaning toward a green that I will know it when i see it at the paint store. LOL. The other consideration is a brown mustard color ( if that makes sense ). It isn't a true mustard - not quite that bright. Stlll open to new ideas though. Rhonda, what I'm being led to believe is that the newer ThermaTtrue stained doors are having some quality control issues.

Go with a green that strikes you. Brown won’t work as well as a bright, happy color.
