First blooms and some more strange blooms

I have had quite a few first blooms of the season this week and some unusual blooms.

This is Mysterious Eyes with mysterious happenings this week. It had first bloom yesterday, a double. Three blooms today, all double. I have had this daylily for about 10 years and it has never doubled…..whats up with this?

First bloom on Free Wheelin today, my hubbie has declared this huge bloom his favorite.

First bloom on Getting Airborne, this is its third season and will be really good, lots of buds.

To Nancy With Love, still getting established.

Get R Done started yesterday.

Solar Blast started yesterday.

Magic Lake is just getting started.

Siloam Double Classic had first bloom today, a new addition to the front of the border…..thought this was supposed to bloom later in the season.

Quazar Cutie was added as a single fan three seasons ago, close to registered scape height at 33” this season. This is most likely what a clump shot will look like for awhile.

My Getting Airborne was slow to establish, but is now also throwing some great blooms. Your Free Wheelin is ahead of here.

I'm with your hubby; that Free Whellin is awesome, Sherry. Getting Airborne is a pretty one and a lovely color to boot. And Get 'R Done is always a good one. Mine is on rebloom and has put up another scape. Solar Blast looks good and no explanation for the extra on xmysterious Eyes, but I have had similar happenings before. Nice one, Sherry.

Sometimes I have daylilies that have never doubled have extra petal material in the middle when temps go from being very hot to cooler. Siloam Double Classic has always been an early bloomer for me. Getting Airborne is my favorite of these. I'm glad it has lots of buds for you this year.

Getting Airborne always looks like velvet! SDC is always one of the first to bloom for me. My first blooms are always single but I definitely prefer the double it is supposed to be. Great photo of Free Wheelin’’.

Really a nice picture of Free Wheelin'.. I always love Get'R Done. Mine is still at only 2 fans, at least it has been blooming better since I moved it.

All of them look very good.Solar Blast is very unusual bloom. I haven't seen a center on a daylily like that but I do Ilike it. I see it is a Gossard.

Gossards usually do really well here. Solar Blast is on shorter scapes this season. Now I know S. Double Classic blooms early for you that have it, early is always a nice addition.

I saw Free Wheeling at a daylily show many years ago and thought it was appealing then. I still do............I think I will have to go with To Nancy With Love as my favorite. It's a sweet looking daylily with a form and edges I like. I'd have been very pleased if I were Nancy when I first saw it bloom............Maryl
