I think the rug needs to be centered with the sofa and also the coffee table. I worry that the sofa is crowding the fireplace and there is that big awkward square between the sofa and love seat. I know you have the perfect place for the chair. AND you already got your new curtains? WOW!

I don't think this room can have an ideal floorplan due to all the existing furniture pieces. Plus it is awkward and small. I can't think of another approach to use the space the best it can be and keep the spaces open without furniture in the way.

Abbyjean, I think she already mentioned that the long sofa can't switch. There is a doorway there too :)

No, unfortunately. The sofa is too long for the wall with the mirror on it. I was thinking of switching my cocktail table but I loved the look of this pic that I'll attach.

I honestly think you have to turn the coffee table in front of the long sofa. It looks misbalanced. Sorry. Your room is so similar. I think you're almost there.

I will be putting an end table in the corner as shown in the picture I attached.

This is really late to bring this up. I looked thru all the pictures and can't tell if this could work, but have you thought of switching living and dining areas? Your LR is difficult, but a table could float anywhere in the "living room". Sometimes "dining room" isn't so cut up and might have a better spot for tv viewing.

I wouldn't use a tree in the corner, The idea of an end table and lamp on it is the best, for proper lighting distribution in the room.

Maybe switch the sides the pillows are on on the love seat.

I would also have an end table next to the chair with a lamp. Placed on the left side of the chair.

I think the rug might have to be placed equally under the loveseat legs due to it's size. It may work by putting all sofa legs on the rug. Don't know for sure.

Do what you need to do with the rug to make it fit with the fireplace, too. It usually looks the nicest if both pieces have at least their front legs ON the rug.

The ladder shelf is going, too, right? I just cannot see it anywhere now.

I wish it could, but we have to use it to hold our DVR and DVD player. Unfortunately I can't win every battle lol.

That is basically where the ladder shelf is now. Do you mean move it over closer to the window? Not sure if there is room.

Sure is, Can it move closer or does it look cramped. If you use drapes, I think it would be too wide?

Sorry for the lighting, but this is a new pic with the table switched around. I love it! I need to buy a table lamp but that space in the corner was bugging me, so I stuck that piece there for now...lol. That floor lamp will go too once I find a table lamp.

WOW! Look at this! You have been working! Look at this! What a change your room has gone through today! I can see why you love it!!! AND now when I see the whole room this way, the ladder shelf is not awful there! It adds height right there in a darker color.

Were there a few other things you bought that you wanted in this room? Wall art? A circular piece?

Thanks Abbyjean, I'm pretty excited! Yes, I bought that circular piece that I posted at the beginning with my mirror and wall art. I hung that on a small wall on the right side of my arch. The arch is on the right side of the loveseat if you are facing it. If that makes any sense.....

It sure was!!! I LOVE it! Faux wood blinds and a table lamp will be my next purchase to complete this room!

My next project will be my formal living and dining room. Paint, drapes, and accessories! Hope I can have my design team to help me out..lol. I just discovered Houzz and I'm loving it!!!!

Does your furniture store have lamps? You probably get a nice discount there, too, but I also know that our Shopko and Target have wonderful lamps....great prices and no ordering, either. Pier One is also a good source, but not sure if you have a local one.

Yes, they sure do! I actually went to Pier 1 yesterday, but it's so hard to pay retail price for any home furnishing these days. I will definitely be looking around tomorrow!
