Sorry yes, distance from the window.

With a 42" wide table centered on a light 52" away from wall, that leaves you with 31" from edge of table to wall. So when a person is seated at the table with back to the wall, there will be about 12" between the back of chair and wall. So go with the larger 52" light placement, however I can't read the drawing dimensions to know if that is pushing the table too far into the circlulation path, but it appears to be ok.

You also want to think about the whole room center. so center to slider and window perhaps

also where are the rest of the recessed lights for that side of the room? and the lights in the kitchen are in the middle of the walkway, not over the work surfaces. just bringing "light" to that.
