With young kids, the sunbrella cushion is all you need right now…though you may need an extra stash of towels!! Pillows will be an exercise in futility. My grandkids (6 and 4) live in a home where my son built the banquette. He upholstered the seat/back of the L-shaped seating with some sort of wipeable (probably vegan) leather. Our grandson seems to get food crumbs/sauces/butter finger prints on everything within reach! His sister isn’t quite as messy but food/crumbs fall!! My poor DIL basically wipes down the whole banquette/walls after they finish a meal! When they visit our condo where I have an upholstered fabric bench, I cover it with towels before every mealtime…at least my bench stays clean! 😄

@Susan good points! 5, 3 and 1 yr olds here and so messy! They are actually sitting on towels now while we wait on the cushionὠ6

I’d love to know what kind of table you ended up using. Also where does one get a cushion made for the seat?
