With or without shutters?

We recently purchased a home and made the decision to replace the decorative shutters with colonial storm shutters. We also decided to have impact windows installed on the upper story level and once that was done our home was freshly painted. So, after nearly a year of waiting, we’re finally ready to have the shutter company back to complete the job and install the final set. However, after such a long time of seeing the attic window without shutters, we’re now wondering if our home might look best without them.

Due to the tight space, this set is exactly 3 inches less in width compared to the ones directly below it and the outside upper corners are cut at an angle to fit in with the roofline. Since this is an impact window, these two shutters would be mounted in a fixed position on the wall and they’d serve no other purpose than to be decorative and coordinate with the others.

Since I know they don’t match exactly in size to the windows on the wall directly beneath them, I’m finding the decision difficult without seeing the actual new shutters in place. I’d hate to go through with it only to regret the decision and create a new mess by having them removed.

I’ve including a picture of how our home currently looks and also a rendering of how the shutters should look on the upper window which was done by the shutter company -after the lower shutters were hung. Their rendering was prior to the install of our impact windows and painting.
