Design Dilemma DIY Kitchens

Help! cinder block structural beams

I have these tall cinder block support beams from floor to ceiling. My kitchen has white walls with black cabinets. Can I skim coat the cinder blocks or should I just leave them painted over? I hate these beams they take up room and just so awkward. Help!

They would be columns, not beams. And yes you could skim coat them if you wish but I would probably buy a sheet or two of 1/2" Azek or similar and trim them out with that, then paint.

Skim coat isnt going to stick over paint. Youd have chunks falling off. Trim them out as millworkman says, or have an artist faux finish them in paint as ”wood beams”.
