when exactly planted... was it dormant or leafed out.. how did you plant it.. how did you water at planting.. how have you watered since.. does you soil drain.. did you perc the soil.. did you amend...

that very insignificant damage for a HUGE transplant .. and if that is all that is wrong with the tree.. i dont think you have anything to complain nor worry about ...

bottom line.. i had to have been field grown.. so 98% of its roots were cut off when it was balled and burlapped... and it will take 2 to 5 years to regrow the lost root mass.. and all you can or need to do is water properly until it start growing to specs ... and in the mean time.. a little leaf uglies is nbd...

The trees were planted on March 30th, and I planted them myself. They were b&b and I was able to get 75% of the burlap and wire off after planting. The trees were still dormant. The soil is a clay- loam that is slighly acidic. It has not been ammemded. Watering is not an issue as there is an irrigation source very close by. They are watered heavily by hose around twice per week or as needed.

I realize that there is always potential for transplant stress symptoms, but am concerned because this is the only tree planted that day showing any issues (we planted 18 trees in all, 5 of which were Swamp White Oak).

I am hoping to rule out any biotic pathogen, or similar issue.
